Directions to the Memorial:
Metrorail
Washington, D.C. has one of the nicest subway systems in the United States. It serves the entire District of Columbia, plus the most populous Maryland and Virginia suburbs. The Metrorail runs from 5:00 am (weekdays), 7:00 am (weekends) to approximately midnight (Sunday-Thursday), and 3:00 am (Friday-Saturday). The time between trains varies from 3 to 20 minutes depending on the time of day and the rail line involved. About the only important part of the District not served by Metrorail is Georgetown.
The fare for a trip is based on time of day (rush hour vs. non-rush hour) and the departure and destination station combination. Each station has a lighted sign near the fare card vending machines that displays the Metro system map and the one-way fare to every other station in the system. You must purchase a magnetic strip fare card from one of the vending machines before you may enter the station. To get into or out of a station, you are required to feed the fare card into the turnstile. Assuming it has enough funds, the turnstile will return your card and then open to let you through.
To reach the Pentagon Memorial via the public Metrorail system, take either the yellow or blue line to the Pentagon stop. Exit the Metro, and take the escalator up to follow the signs to the Pentagon Memorial. For a Metrorail map and more information, visit the Washington Metropolitan Area Transit Authority web site.
Driving
TO OR FROM THE WEST: There are two main routes: I-66 and Route 50.

At the end of the exit ramp, merge onto the southbound lane of the George Washington Memorial Parkway. Stay in the right lane. Just after the Arlington National Cemetery/Memorial Bridge exit, take the next exit on your right, marked Lyndon B. Johnson Memorial Grove/I-395 North. Once on the exit, veer right at the fork. Follow Rotary Road around for bus drop-offs, or to the North Rotary Road Kiss and Drop points.
I-66 is four lanes from Arlington to the beltway (I-495). Important note: All lanes of I-66 inside the beltway, between I-495 and the Theodore Roosevelt Bridge, are HOV lanes (i.e. a minimum of 2 people per vehicle) during rush hours (6:30 – 9:00 am eastbound, 4:00 – 6:30 pm westbound). It also becomes bumper to bumper during rush hour.

TO OR FROM THE SOUTH:There is one main route: I-95/395. This is the main north-south interstate route along the East coast of the United States, so it carries a heavy traffic load most of the time. South of the beltway (I-495) this road is called I-95. Between the beltway and downtown Washington, DC, this road is called I-395. When this highway crosses the Anacostia River several miles northeast of the Pentagon, it leads directly onto I-295.
Get on I-395 North in the direction of Washington, DC, take Exit 8B and drive north toward VA-27N. Merge onto VA-27N. Take the exit towards Columbia Pike/Hwy 244W. Veer right and exit at the sign for South Parking/South Rotary Road. Follow Rotary Road around for bus drop-offs, or to the North Rotary Road Kiss and Drop points.

Proceed through the light to the first stop sign at the intersection of Eads and South Rotary Road. Follow Rotary Road around for bus drop-offs, or to the North Rotary Road Kiss and Drop points.
Take the George Washington Memorial Parkway heading north. After passing Reagan National Airport, get into the middle lane. Take the second exit ramp on the right, marked I-395/South/Richmond. Follow Rotary Road around for bus drop-offs, or to the North Rotary Road Kiss and Drop points.
TO OR FROM THE NORTH: Driving from Maryland or the District of Columbia, you may cross into Virginia using either the 14th Street Bridge or Memorial Bridge.
Take the 14th Street Bridge across the Potomac River into Virginia. Follow signs for I-395 South. From I-395 South, get off at Exit 8A/Pentagon South Parking. Stay in your left lane and follow the South Parking exit ramp around to the intersection of South Rotary Road. Follow Rotary Road around for bus drop-offs, or to the North Rotary Road Kiss and Drop points.
