COL Ronald F. Golinski, USA, Retired

Colonel Ronald F. Golinski, USA, Retired, enjoyed living in Columbia, Maryland with his wife, Irene. During the course of his 36-year Army career, he held many positions of responsibility including the position of Director of the Enlisted Personnel Management Directorate (EPMD) at the Army Reserve Personnel Command in Saint Louis, Missouri. As Director of EPMD he was responsible for the management of more than 300,000 enlisted soldiers in the Individual Ready Reserve. His awards include the Legion of Merit and the Meritorious Service Medal with two Oak Leaf Clusters. Subsequent to his retirement from the U.S. Army Reserve in 1996, he was employed as a Department of the Army civilian in the Office of the Deputy Chief of Staff for Personnel. 

Ron and Irene were married 23 years ago and have three daughters, Marcellia Golinski-Potler, Amanda Golinski and Sara Golinski. The Golinskis celebrated the marriage of their daughter Marcellia to Evan Potler on September 2, 2001. In addition to Marcellia, Amanda and Sara, the Golinski family is blessed with a grandson, Brenden. All live in Maryland. 

There are also two stepchildren, Paula Smith and David Eschenbaum, who live in upstate New York. Paula has two sons, Peter and Anthony, and David has one son, Alexander. Ron has three daughters by a previous marriage – Christine, who resides in Pennsylvania, and Dawn and Michelle, who both reside in upstate New York. There are also 11 additional grandchildren. Ron’s mother, Marion Golinski, currently lives in Columbia, Maryland. His two brothers, Leon and Christopher, live in Georgia. His sister, Marylyn, lives in Florida, and his sister, Michelle, lives in Massachusetts. 

Ron’s colleagues, both military and civilian, agree that his sense of humor could not be matched. He worked hard as did those who worked for him. All could depend on him to go the extra mile for them. Everyone knows of Ron’s passion for golf. On Saturdays and Sundays between the hours of 6:00 a.m. and 1:00 p.m. you could always find him on the Fort George G. Meade golf course. FORE! 

This biographical note would not be complete without mentioning two of Ron’s favorite characters – Sylvester and Crackers – his favorite cats. Close behind are the two stray cats he took in: Teeger (aka Fat Cat) and one yet to be named. Ron, we love you!!!!
